Two Google products

They are Looker Studio and Google Sheets.

Looker Studio serves as a front end, allowing users to search, filter, and display information, while Google Sheets functions as a back end for storing data.

Both software programs are available at no cost.

Why do you need them?

Advantages and limitations of using Looker Studio as a front end

Advantages:
– Free of charge.
– Low coding requirements, with a drag-and-drop interface.
– A variety of functions are available to meet essential needs.
– Its formulas are very similar to those in Excel.

Limitations:
–It is not sophisticated enough for heavy-duty database querying.
– It only supports simple visualisations.

Advantages and limitations of using Google Sheets as a back end

See Google Sheets as a simplified version of Excel.

Advantages:
– Free of charge.
– Easy to customise a database.
– Suitable for short-term use.
– Suitable for small-sized databases.

Limitations:
– The database needs to be tidied up before being used in Looker Studio.
–It is not sophisticated enough for customising interfaces.
